Who We Are

Creating and enjoying great drinks is both exciting and rewarding—especially when shared with family and friends. But the process doesn’t always go smoothly. Working with sticky ingredients like honey and sugar can quickly become messy, and the results are often inconsistent. Trying to incorporate pure, unique flavours introduces another challenge, often becoming costly and difficult to perfect at home. Frustrated by seeing shelves filled with overly sweet syrups loaded with artificial flavours and colours, a veteran Sydney bar professional set out to create a better solution—one that would allow both bartenders and home enthusiasts to craft flavourful cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks with ease, purity, and confidence.

Our Story

Handy Syrups was founded by Taka in early 2021, during the post COVID-19 era, with a mission to make high-quality drink flavouring simple and accessible. With more than 13 years of experience behind some of Sydney’s top cocktail bars and restaurants, Taka brings a deep understanding of balance, flavour, and craftsmanship to every bottle. His work—and our syrups—are inspired by the flavours of both:

  • Japan — his spiritual home, known for purity and flavour harmony
